There’s an App for That
by Gadget Spectrum on Aug.01, 2010, under Home & Garden, Leisure & Travel
There’s been many, many iPod/iPhone docking stations in the past, but none quite as sleek as this one. The iLuv iPhone App Station takes advantage of customisable Apps to give you more than just a fancy shaped speaker.
Being round, the App Station can be used with your device in a vertical position, or easily rolled so you can use it horizontally.
Turn this docking station into a fancy alarm clock, listen to music, watch videos, play games and make use of many other Apps such as Skype, taking advantage of the speaker’s rich and punchy sound.
The App Station can be mains or battery powered and also charges your device when in use. Find out more by clicking the image, or on the link below.
And if you like your Apps, you’ll probably also love these wonderfully kitsch App magnets!
They come in a pack of 18 and would look great on the fridge or on the magnetic white board in any trendy office!

Get into the Groove
by Gadget Spectrum on Mar.08, 2010, under Home & Garden, Leisure & Travel
If you are over a certain age, there’s a good chance that you will have a dusty old collection of records somewhere in your house, stored away safely in a cupboard or in the attic, abandoned long ago as you tried to keep up with the cool kids with their CDs and mp3 downloads.
But if you miss that certain something about your record collection, the warm fullness of the analogue sound, the reliable crackle before the music started, something that the crispness of your iPod fails to offer, then this may be the gadget for you.

The Ion iProfile LP to iPod Turntable allows you to easily copy your record collection to you iPod, using the integrated iPod dock, without even needing to use a computer.
As well as records, the turntable includes a stereo input so you can hook up cassette or MiniDisc players and copy even more old skool classics over to your iPod!

Snow, Sweat and Darts
by Gadget Spectrum on Jan.11, 2010, under Home & Garden, Leisure & Travel
If you’re in the UK and you happened to switch your TV on at any time over the past week, it is almost certain that you would have seen one of two things. Either a news report about snow and the ‘Big Freeze’ that has gripped the country (and most of the Northern Hemisphere), or two fat, sweaty men playing darts at the BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship.
Now, here at Gadget Spectrum, we quite like snow, but we’ve never been all that interested in darts. But during the week, as the novelty of the snow started to wear thin, the darts seemed to get a bit more interesting, ending with a closely fought final between Martin Adams (the older, less sweaty one) and Dave Chisnall (the younger, sweatier one).
Adams ended up winning 7 sets to 5.

View Ian Wort’s Lakeside Darts Gallery here.
But if all of the Beeb’s darts coverage has left you wanting to try your hand at this traditional pub game, we’ve found a few dart boards you may like.

Fathers Day Gift Ideas and Discounts
by Gadget Spectrum on Jun.09, 2009, under Adult Fun, Leisure & Travel
Fathers Day is fast approaching again (on Sunday 21st June if you weren’t sure) and if you’re still struggling for gift ideas then you may want to visit this website we’ve found.
Barmans have some great booze related products that will appeal to any Dad who enjoys a responsible drink or two every now and then. For the more adventurous of fathers, there’s the Cocktail Starter Kit, including everything needed to make the perfect cocktails at home.

Or if your Dad prefers to leave the hard work to someone else and just enjoys drinking his favourite tipple over a game of pub darts, then this will be more up his street.
These official Guinness branded darts are made from professional quality tungsten, meaning the only thing stopping your Dad from getting that 180 will be his own lack of skills (as well as the number of pints he’s had, of course).

Something for the Festival, Sir?
by Gadget Spectrum on May.21, 2009, under Leisure & Travel
The other day we talked about barbecues. Today we’ll be talking about another feature of the great British summer – music festivals.
Not everyone is a fan of spending a long weekend in a muddy field with no showers and rather disturbing toilet facilities, but many others love it.
And for those of you who do we have found this great festival survival kit. Containing sunscreen, a PVC poncho, deodorant, anti-bacterial hand gel, towels, toilet seat covers, condoms, mini first aid kit and a hell of a lot more.

And something else that may come in handy at the festivals is the Shit Box. This charming little device is designed to help out if you find yourself needing a dump when a toilet is nowhere around.
Simply fold out the box to create your throne, pop in a disposable plastic bag, take a seat and do your business. Lovely!
