Voodoo for your Desktop
by Gadget Spectrum on Feb.28, 2010, under Adult Fun
Following on from the hugely popular and, some would argue, highly offensive Voodoo Knife Block, designer Raffaele Iannello has recreated his Voodoo doll as a brilliant pen holder for your desk.
Complete with six very sleek javelin-style pens, you can now stick pins in your very own Voodoo doll whenever your boss is giving you a headache, or your customers want the impossible!

Happy Halloween!
by Gadget Spectrum on Oct.31, 2009, under Adult Fun

Inspired by this Space Invaders pumpkin featured in our last post, we decided to see if we could carve something just as good into our pumpkin this Halloween.
Well, we weren’t quite as good, but here are some photos of a couple of our attempts anyway, alongside the well known gaming characters we were trying to recreate!

First we tried the Evil Mushroom from Mario, which we were actually quite pleased with. So for our second attempt we decided to try something a bit trickier.
This was probably a mistake, but you can judge for yourself.

Sonic The Hedgehog perhaps proved to be a bit too detailed for us novice pumpkin carvers, but you can just about make him out… hopefully!
We weren’t the only ones stepping up to the pumpkin challenge though. Our friends at UCHG cooked up a treat for Halloween.

Here is their great pumpkin of the Atari logo. You can click here to watch a video of the boys making it. A word of warning though, the video contains some strong language that would probably make Gordon Ramsay blush!
Trick or Treat – Halloween Special
by Gadget Spectrum on Oct.11, 2009, under Adult Fun, For the Kids

We realise it’s been a while since our last post at Gadget Spectrum and, for that, we are truly sorry. So we thought we would reward you with a bumper Halloween treat.
No doubt, many of you will be planning a party to celebrate Halloween this year and I’m sure you’ll agree that no party is complete without balloons. But one thing with Halloween parties is that they tend to be pretty dark. After all, what’s so scary about a party with the lights on? But the problem with balloons is that they don’t really have much of an impact in the dark… until now!
This great range of new ‘illoom balloons’ are cleverly fitted with a tiny LED, lighting them up for an amazing 15 hours. Available in multiple colours and, more appropriately, in a brilliant pumpkin design.
For some more subtle Halloween party decorations, why not try these great haunted portraits. Cleverly made to display different images from different angles, one view will show you classic black and white portraits of Granny as a young girl and other assorted family members, but change position and they will transform in to a mix of decomposing zombies, bloodthirsty vampires and crazed skeletons.
Party games are a must, and this is a Halloween twist on the classic that everyone loves, Jenga.
‘Skelly Bones’ isn’t particularly scary, but it is sure to create some tension and competitiveness amongst your party guests. How many bones can you remove before the skeleton topples over?
If you’re brave enough to take the party outside into the cold Autumn night air, with all those ghosts and vampires running around trick-or-treating, you may like to set off some pumpkin style flying lanterns.
Like the traditional flying lanterns you may have seen, these fabric pumpkins carry a small wax fuel cell inside, which when set alight will heat the air inside the lantern and cause it to float off into the night sky, grinning devilishly at you until it disappears into the clouds.
Here’s a handsome chap that will be welcome at any Halloween party. The crawling zombie is motion activated so will try to chase after and eat your party guests if they get too close. He has demonic glowing red eyes and also talks and growls.
But don’t worry about him drinking all your party booze… he’ll already be legless when he arrives!
And speaking of booze, add a touch of magical class to your party by serving guests their drinks in these great glowing glasses. The wine glasses come with seven colour options to choose from.
For added effect you can even add some of these ’bone chillers’ ice cubes to the drinks.
Of course, no Halloween is complete without a shed load of sweets and everyone suffering with a sugar rush. With this ‘sweet memories hamper’ you can treat your party guests to a huge selection of sweets that will instantly take them back to their childhoods.
And finally, we’d like to share with you this great photo we found on the interweb:

We may even try making our own gadget/gaming/retro-themed pumpkin lantern this year, and welcome any photos of your attempts to do the same!

Let the beer pong championship commence!
by Gadget Spectrum on Aug.31, 2009, under Adult Fun
It’s that time of year again. Summer is drawing to a close, kids are going back to school and students are heading back to university to play beer pong.
For those of you who may not have heard of this wonderful game, it usually involves two sets of beer filled cups, in a triangle formation, at opposite ends of a table. Players - normally two teams of two – take it in turn to attempt to get a ping-pong ball in one of their opponent’s cups. If successful, the opponent must drink the beer from that cup.

This is a game that can be played on pretty much any makeshift surface but, thanks to this deluxe game set with its great playing table, beer pong can now be taken to the next level!
The table can even be folded down for easy storage, which also makes it great for carrying round to house parties.

Fathers Day Gift Ideas and Discounts
by Gadget Spectrum on Jun.09, 2009, under Adult Fun, Leisure & Travel
Fathers Day is fast approaching again (on Sunday 21st June if you weren’t sure) and if you’re still struggling for gift ideas then you may want to visit this website we’ve found.
Barmans have some great booze related products that will appeal to any Dad who enjoys a responsible drink or two every now and then. For the more adventurous of fathers, there’s the Cocktail Starter Kit, including everything needed to make the perfect cocktails at home.

Or if your Dad prefers to leave the hard work to someone else and just enjoys drinking his favourite tipple over a game of pub darts, then this will be more up his street.
These official Guinness branded darts are made from professional quality tungsten, meaning the only thing stopping your Dad from getting that 180 will be his own lack of skills (as well as the number of pints he’s had, of course).
